Backblaze stores data in a 17 parts, with 3 calculated parity, Reed Solomon encoded. The 20 total parts are stored on 20 different hard drives in 20 different racks in 20 separate locations in the datacenter.Got 1 18TB recertified for $165, then a month later got two for $175, now they're up to $199. They probably have a price bot/algorithm that tracks prices elsewhere and adjusts their prices to trend the same. I got my exos 2x18 for 180, it's 280 now. SanDisk and Samsung flash drives are usually the best I've seen. Really all mini USV drives use pretty trash flash storage though. SSD is not a good solution for an archive because it stores data as electric charge in its cells and the charge may eventually disappear when the SSD is offline for a longer period of time ( = couple of years).
