Popeye is the resident expert and has posted many times with various club types and others game the Maltby irons/wedges also. I wanted to post some thoughts on the TE forged irons. I've primarily been gaming the Ping G15s ever since I returned to golf in 2013 after a long absence. The XP-1 is a very playable set designed to make hitting good iron shots easier and it comfortably exceeded our expectations. Reasons to buy. +. A premium-looking iron that is very inviting behind the ball. Fast, forgiving and just generally easy to strike cleanly and get the ball up in the air from a variety of lies. I made a little over 150 bucks selling off all of my stuff from the thinning the herd sale. I then bought a set of Ping G’s (2016) , pulled the shafts, and sold for 50 bucks. I already had TTXL lite shafts to put in.
