The skin on your face is very thin and very sensitive, so henna won't stick around very long. It works well on hands and feet due to how thick this skin is. I wouldn't put it near your face because of the essential oils in the mix, they can cause skin irritation, inflammation of your mucus membranes and possible blindness.When I wash the henna out with plain water, I do a baking soda rinse afterwards because supposedly the pH change makes indigo dye better. But for a while I wasn't doing the baking soda rinse, and my indigo was still washing out fast. I let my hair dry and then mix indigo with plain water. Keep it on my head for around 3 hours.
