Project Zomboid is sort of like DayZ. It's less shooter and more hardcore zombie survival. There's also SCUM, which has puppets (zombies by another name) and both can be played solo. I'm also a big fan of the mod, but I just don't enjoy Standalone at this point in time. It's still very much an early-access Alpha that has a lot of bugs, desync issues and the list goes on. It has a lot of potential, especially when modding becomes a thing.
