4020 starting problems. My '64 4020, has issues with not turning over fast enough to start. Reasonably new starter, new batteries 550 cca, new cable clamps. Had a mech. look at it, and came down to ground strap corrosion. Installed new ground strap, (24v pos. ground system) connected right to diff bolt, after filing to clean metal.It's also why Deere special ordered those pumps with an easily adjustable advance screw. 4020 is supposed to get a timing advance up around 16 engines degrees. I run a 64 4020 gas, first year for 4020 so your late 4010 would be a 63. The aluminum carb was a real bad deal, the big iron carb with vacuum accelerator pump was not much better. If you pull the choke out it will come back to life and run OK. if you feather the choke back in, it will drive around OK in lower gear.
