Just got my 1895GS! Waiting for it to ship felt like forever. I inspected it and everything looks great, I am just questioning the JM stamp on the left side of the barrel. I like the 300 grain jacketed hollow points for hunting. These have some punch reloaded with Hodgdon 322 powder. My favorite plinking loads are also 300 grain, but in lead format with IMR Trailboss.

Codes don't work. I got an email from a guy who said the MR is Marlin Remington/and the 2 most likely signifies the year and the 2nd number most likely signifies the month...or vice versa...of manufacture. I got the rifle in Sept. 2012 so the 2 probably means 2012. The whole sequence may show what number in the lot mine was built.

As the others have said, JM just means that it is a proper Marlin. Even JM Marlins show up from time to time with factory defects, but it's much less likely IMO. Your's looks really nice.
