I've used 4-high a few times. Today, I needed 4-low. I was in 4-high. It was working fine. When I turned the switch to 4 low while in neutral, the light on the dash just blinked rapidly. It wouldn't switch to 4 low.

This is likely due to the shifting process timing out (jammed t-case or diff actuator). Until the condition is corrected and the ECU reset the light just keeps flashing. Occasionally when I start the vehicle, the 4lo light is flashing accompanied by a beeping alert, the transmission releases into a neutral position and the shift selector becomes essentially useless (you can toggle from Park through each setting including drive and the transmission will not engage).

Then you can stop put the truck in neutral and then puch the 4LO button. The truck will not go into 4LO without first being in 4HI.
