Marlin 1894p.
I'm looking at a 1894P 44 magnum locally and it has some rust/pitting problems on the receiver & a couple of spots on the magazine tube, opinions would be appreciated. I know that it's worth whatever I'm willing to pay, but it's always good to get some input from the wise Marlin folks here at the forum. See the pics below.
The Marlin is fun to shoot and if you reload not that expensive. The compact 1984P with its 8 in the tube and 1 in the pipe makes a perfect "Politically Correct" home defense or trunk gun. Marlin 1894P's are extremely difficult to find used which means those that have them like them. Marlin 1894 and 94 manufacture dates. I have a question on manufacture dates for a couple of different Marlins. First is a Model 94, in 25-20 serial number 8014xx, as best I can tell the first number is a 8 and not a 3, but even with a magnifying glass I am not 100% sure. Second is a 1894C 357/38 Serial number, 92041xxx.

On the right side of the barrel is the REP stamp. On the left near the top (close to the rear site) is a letter enclosed in a triangle which I think is the magnaflux stamp.
