I did the first NCLEX-RN assessment within a week of studying to know what I needed to focus on. I got a 58% and a high chance of passing. Failed in 75 Questions. So I took the NCLEX yesterday and received an email today that I failed. I’m so beyond devastated and disappointed. I had 18 SATA and towards the end I wasn’t getting any SATA so I figured I must be doing poorly. When my screen shut off at 75 I knew I failed because I didn’t really get to the “difficult” questions.

Since the minimum number of questions you'll take on the NCLEX is 75, and the maximum is 145, this could happen at any point between those 2 numbers. Theoretically, the computer could know from your first 75 questions that you failed and stop giving you more, or it could know that you passed.I passed at 85. I don’t know anyone that has failed at 85. I have also heard that an exceedingly small percentage of people fail at 85. It’s like 1% or something close to that. Pass or fail, the test has to be 95% sure of its decision, and 51% is effectively a passing score. So, it’s pretty hard to fail the NCLEX at 85.

The maximum number of questions on NCLEX is currently 145 and the minimum is 75. If you’re doing really well, you could pass in 75 questions. But if you’re doing really poorly, you could fail in 75. For others, it could take 85, 100, or even the full 145 questions. Just because the examination shuts off at 75 questions does not mean that you have automatically failed. In fact, it could mean just the opposite, which is exactly what happened to me. Similarly, completing all 145 questions does not mean you have automatically failed.
