Nov 25, 2019. #3. I made a live axle out of a piece of 1" OD by 1/4" wall DOM seamless tube. Hand cut the keyways (not full length, just the ends and for the sprocket and brake) with a cape chisel and a die grinder. Bored and tapped 5/8" threads into the ends and use a bolt instead of a nut to retain the wheels.
