Jeep runs hot while driving. I have a 2012 jeep jku sport, It runs hot only while driving, as soon as I park it and just let it idle it cooks down to around 208-215 and stays constant, while driving it has/will get as high as 245, but will fluctuate from 228-235. I have replaced the oil cooler (was leaking), the thermostat, and radiator cap.The difference was immediate and pronounced. On the trip home using the menu for digital coolant temp I was running 185 to 205f. My Wrangler never ran that cool. Also, my gas miles went up between 1.5 to 1.7mpg with the engine not running so hot. It has been about 100 days and I'm still seeing the same results.Details. A couple of weeks ago the electric radiator fan came on during a 2 hour drive and was very loud. After that day, that fan now comes on at full speed whenever driving more than about 10 miles on the highway. At full speed, its loud! I took it into the dealer and they replaced the TIPM computer and said it was fixed.

U might jack it up and check how free the wheels rotate. That would create some heat depending on how bad the caliper was sticking without necessarily much associated smell especially if your running ceramic pads. Happened to our WJ twice, front left NAPA caliper frozen so only Centrics 4 me now.

Low on power and running rough after warming up. My 98 TJ with the 2.5l has been acting up lately. It seems to run pretty normal when cold, but a few minutes after reaching normal running temp, it gradually seems to idle rougher and rougher, it's low on power and there's a drop in oil pressure. The fan control/relay was shot and the electric fan was not cutting on. I checked the fan by running a + and - from the battery. Fan worked. On hot days (temps in 90's plus), my Jeep would overheat while driving regardless of speed. Higher speeds didn't help cool it off. In older vehicles that had questionable cooling fans, you could just drive 50-60 and the airflow through radiator was enough to keep your engine happy. Not so in the JK.
