Batannian armor is pretty bad and their best unit is the Faxlman, who is a 2h dps. Hence the infantry charges. Their big-long weapon needs room to work and your infantry will always lose to Vlandian or Empire units straight up. I keep my Batannian infantry in loose formation about 75% of the time.
